A Digital Exhibition on Themes of Social Justice of More than 100 Works of Art from GCSU Permanent Collections
A Guide for Contributions from Faculty & Students
The Art of Social Engagement project will be a digital exhibition of artwork housed in GCSU permanent collections on themes of social justice. This is an ongoing project that allows for expansion and development over time. The exhibit is designed for public interest, scholarly research, and student learning. The exhibit will include content created by GCSU faculty and students from many disciplines to demonstrate the importance of a liberal arts education. Inclusivity, interdisciplinarity, and collaboration are our most valued principles.
The project team invites contributions from faculty and students that will enhance the understanding of the artwork and the themes of social justice they elicit. We hope this activity presents a worthwhile opportunity for you to highlight your academic field, and your own research or creative interests.
Contributions will be published on the exhibition website with related object(s). Faculty may work independently, or they may supervise students in the creation of a contribution. All faculty and students involved in the project will be credited on the exhibition website.
Contributions (150 mb file size limit) can come in various forms, such as:
Short essays about the themes, objects, artists, historical context
Podcasts, video interviews (of faculty/students, or of artists and related people)
Data visualizations, network graphs, digital mapping, interactive map, or timeline
Educational resources
Creative responses to the artwork
SUBMITTING CONTENT:
Begin by selecting an object of interest from our collection: AOSE MASTER CHECKLIST.xlsx.
Discuss your ideas for a contribution and your timeline for completion with the project team.
Submit your content to elissa.auerbach@gcsu.edu. The project team will review submissions.
Submissions may be edited for length or clarity. The team has the discretion to edit or decline submitted content as needed to preserve the overall coherence of the exhibition.
